Dr. David Lawson | DC | Clinic Director

Clinic Director
Chiropractic | ART | Acupuncture/IMS | Graston

Dr. Lawson is proud to be part of Chiropractic’s history in Alberta. His “Great Uncle Will” and his aunt were two of the first chiropractors in western Canada. His father, Dr. Ross Lawson, practiced in downtown Calgary for 35 years and during that time was instrumental in establishing chiropractic as a Regulated Health Profession with the Government of Alberta. Dr. Lawson’s childhood impression of chiropractic lead him to decide to be a chiropractor at the age of 8. That goal was accomplished in 1978 when he graduated from the Toronto based Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College, joining his father in his downtown practice until his death in 1985. In 2001 Dr. Lawson changed the clinic’s name from Calgary Chiropractic Clinic to Downtown Integrative Health Group, reflecting its expanding health services.

Dr. Lawson has served his profession in provincial and national chiropractic associations in areas of continuing education, health care restructuring and Complementary and Alternative Medicine (CAM). He is qualified in the areas of full spine and extremity chiropractic adjustment techniques, anatomical (Medical) acupuncture, Graston, dry-needling/intramuscular stimulation and Active Release Techniques.

As a competitive master’s athlete in road and mountain biking and cross-country skiing Dr. Lawson appreciates how the aging body responds to sports injuries. “It’s clear that a team approach is needed to move from an initial painful injury to rehabilitation to being my best. Downtown Integrative Health Group is my health care team”.

He is cared for by his wife, Susan, who also is the administrative hub of the clinic. Their four very talented children continue to make a difference in their various locations around the world.
